Craft Beer & Support Local Beer Brewers

We Support Local Beer Brewers – Do You? 🍻

At Chalmers Golfkrog, we love craft beer. Not just because it tastes great – but because it’s made with passion, personality, and purpose. Above all, we believe local microbreweries deserve more attention, more space, and more love. That’s why we created the hashtag #supportlocalbeerbrewers – a universal way to show your support, wherever you are in the world.

For us, Craft Beer isn’t just a trend – It’s a movement & mission

🔸 In our first season, we filled our bar with locally crafted beer and started introducing guests to brews they never thought they’d try – by connecting their usual preferences with local alternatives.
🔸 Furthermore, we ran After Golf deals every day all summer – where only craft beer was on offer.
🔸 Not only that, in the fall we hosted a Beermaker’s Dinner event in partnership with Bearded Rabbit Brewery, where we designed five unique food servings to match five distinct beers from the local brewery. We call it composing, not just pairing, While some may think pairings are the only way to add a new layer to the experience, we think differently. Most importantly, the beer is what it is, and  it’s the food that should adapt to the beer.

Taking our support for Craft Beer further during year two…

✨ We brewed our own lager; F.O.G – Fields of Gold Lager, with Odd Island Brewing – a modern, golden-hued, crisp and floral take on the classic thirst-quencher. And it exceeded all our – and our guests – expectations.
🍴 We hosted an own Event Street Food & Craft Beer with our Food Truck ‘Street Food by Sticks & Spoons’, featuring 8 microbreweries and over 40 beers on our curated craft beer menu!

What’s more? This is only the beginning of what we can do!

In the future, we want to brew more of our own beers, host more unique events where beer is part of the storytelling, and inspire others – restaurants, bars, and guests alike – to discover and support their local beer heroes.

Let’s be honest, let’s give these brewers a much-needed tailwind in a market that too often favors the big brands.

It’s your turn, so next time you raise a glass of local craft beer – snap a photo, use the hashtag #supportlocalbeerbrewers and invite your friends to do the same. Share, rate, recommend. Let’s create some noise.

Because without these passionate brewers, Sweden (and the world) would be a much, much greyer place.

Cheers,
Jane & Fredrik

Discover the World of Small-Batch Brews and Flavorful Fermentations

Not all beer is created equal. Behind the glossy supermarket shelves and mainstream lagers lies an ever-growing world of independently brewed wonders – often produced on a smaller scale, with creativity, passion, and an obsession for quality. These aren’t your average beers. They’re handcrafted, carefully nurtured from grain to glass, and each tells a story. Whether you’re a long-time enthusiast or just dipping your toes into new flavor territories, there’s a universe of delicious surprises waiting.

From Grain to Glass: The Soul of Independent Brewing

Independent breweries focus on doing things differently. Instead of mass production, they opt for smaller batches, seasonal recipes, and bold, unexpected combinations. These artisanal brews are made with attention to detail – using premium ingredients like locally sourced malts, experimental hop varieties, or even wild yeast strains to create something truly unique.

The magic lies not only in the ingredients but in the freedom of experimentation. Local brewers can pivot quickly, try new ideas, take risks, and pour their personalities into every bottle or can. From fruit-forward wheat ales to smoky stouts, what’s being brewed today often challenges the norms of what beer “should” taste like – and that’s exactly the point sometimes – to think outside the box. Why invent the wheel all over again when you can do a really nice looking rim?

A Tour Through Flavour: Popular Styles Worth Exploring

If you’ve mostly had light lagers, prepare for a revelation. Here are just a few of the small-brewery classics that have captivated fans around the world:

  • Hazy Pale Ales – Juicy, soft, and often citrus-packed, these cloudy wonders are smooth and approachable, even for hop-skeptics.
  • IPAs (India Pale Ales) – Once niche, now legendary. From West Coast pine and resin to New England’s fruit basket explosion, there’s an IPA for every taste bud.
  • Saisons and Farmhouse Ales – Born in the countryside of Belgium and Northern France, these rustic brews often offer spice, citrus peel, and a dry finish that pairs beautifully with food.
  • Porters and Stouts – Rich, roasted, sometimes chocolatey or coffee-forward, and occasionally infused with vanilla, chili, or even bourbon barrel aging.
  • Sours and Wild Ferments – Tart, tangy, and full of personality, these are the rebels of the beer world. Often brewed with fruit or aged in wine barrels, they deliver flavors that dance across the palate.
  • Lagers with Character – Clean, crisp, but never boring. Small-scale lagers might have herbal, bready, or floral notes that make them perfect for long conversations and slow sips.

Be Brave. Be Curious. Be Thirsty.

The joy of these brewed masterpieces is in the discovery. Step outside your comfort zone. Ask the bartender what’s new. Visit a local taproom you’ve never tried. Or try a food pairing event where beer is matched with bites in ways that elevate both.

The world of micro-brewed excellence is filled with treasures – but only for those willing to explore. Don’t let the word ”beer” mean just one thing to you. Let it be an adventure, a tasting journey, and an invitation to experience craftsmanship in its most delicious form.

So next time you’re out, skip the usual. Order something you can’t pronounce. Taste the seasonal special. Share a bottle that comes with a story.

Raise your glass to the bold and the brewed – and enjoy every sip of the unexpected!

Cheers!
